A great read, I’m really looking forward to book two! Book Chick City I loved the fact that the book wasn’t too teenage despite taking place in a high school, as the characters have genuine problems to overcome with each trying to find their own way to cope with their powers. The characters were all so different and yet still fit together in their own way, and I was truly shocked by some of the events. This book was one of those that I just couldn’t put down, and despite its size I found it to be a really quick read. The most interesting book to come out of Sweden this year, and it’s not another crime thriller! fabruary8 Recommended to those who like their heroines with attitude and supernatural stories that will keep you on the edge of your seat! Onemorepage The story has good pace and there are some excellent twists to the plot which really surprised me. I was reading as fast as I could to find out what happened next. Enjoyed it so much I can thoroughly recommend this quite superb tale, and urge all to go out and order a copy today.

This spellbinding chronicle offers an authoritative new history of a great, and greatly troubled, nation. Finding meaning in contradiction, Lepore weaves American history into a tapestry of faith and hope, of peril and prosperity, of technological progress and moral anguish. Telling the story of America, beginning in 1492, These Truths asks whether the course of events has proven the nation's founding truths or belied them. And it rests, too, "on a dedication to inquiry, fearless and unflinching", writes Jill Lepore in a ground-breaking investigation into the American past that places truth at the centre of the nation's history. The American experiment rests on three ideas-"these truths", Jefferson called them-political equality, natural rights and the sovereignty of the people. These Truths by Jill Lepore is a one-volume political history of the United States, from 1492 to 2016. In the most ambitious one-volume American history in decades, award-winning historian Jill Lepore. What I discovered was a beautiful story that gave Hoover a run for her money. I was intrigued when I realized the vote was close, so I knew I’d have to give this book a try. Privately, I’ve dubbed Hoover “The Queen of New Adult Fiction.”Ī couple of weeks ago, I was surfing around Facebook and came upon a fan voting site which pitted Hoover’s Hopeless against a title I’d never encountered: Bully by Penelope Douglas. Since then, I’ve read scores of “New Adult” novels but Hoover’s Hopeless has remained at the top of my list of favorites. I fell in love with the characters and the story, and it opened up a whole new world of writing style for me that I didn’t know existed. It was the first title I’d ever read in the new category dubbed as “New Adult.” It was a cross between Young Adult Fiction, with characters in their late teens, and Adult Fiction because it included themes that were a bit too intense for the under-18 crowd. A couple of years ago I read a book by Colleen Hoover entitled Hopeless. The owl advises Mrs Frisby to seek the help of the rats. It's a bit of a nerve-wracking visit because mice are, after all, known to be a tasty tit-bit for a hungry owl. This involves a hair-raising flight on the back of a crow, straight to the owl's home in the trunk of an old tree in the woods. Well, first of all she seeks the advice of the wise old owl. So what can Mrs Frisby do when she realizes that Timothy is not well enough to move? This is bad timing because in the spring the mice have to leave their winter home in the vegetable garden, and go to live in the woods well away from all the human activity. Her youngest, Timothy, is a bit of a weakling and falls rather seriously ill just at the beginning of spring. Mrs Frisby is having a worrying time bringing up her young family since she lost her husband. It's a story about mice and rats - but they're very human little things. It was edited by Gail Kern Paster and Esther Ferington. “Teach Him How To Tell My Story” was produced by Richard Paul. He also explores how the French Renaissance writer Montaigne influenced Shakespeare, and how Shakespeare pushed back on Montaigne’s ideas. In this episode of Shakespeare Unlimited, Harvard University’s Stephen Greenblatt expands upon the talk he gave earlier this year for the Folger Institute’s Shakespeare Anniversary Lecture Series, about how Shakespeare shapes characters and narratives. (Think of Hamlet’s dying words to Horatio: “And in this harsh world draw thy breath in pain / To tell my story.”) While that may not seem surprising on the face of it – Shakespeare was a storyteller after all – this idea of reimagining your life so that it tells a story was not a common one in Shakespeare’s time. There are a surprising number of characters in Shakespeare who propose or ask or even demand that someone tell their life’s story. While Wicca shouldn’t be your sole point of reference when considering Wicca as your way of life, it is one of the best starting points. Focusing on the importance of individualism in your spiritual path, Cunningham explains the very basics of Sabbats (holy days), ceremonies, altars, and other nuts and bolts of Wicca that a solitary practitioner may have trouble finding elsewhere. Wicca: A Guide for the Solitary Practitioner is the essential primer from one of the best known authors on Wicca. Wicca also includes Scott Cunningham’s own Book of Shadows and updated appendices of periodicals and occult suppliers. It is a book of sense and common sense, not only about magick, but about religion and one of the most critical issues of today: how to achieve the much needed and wholesome relationship with our Earth. One of the most interesting things about Wiccan religion is that there are not really any mandates when it comes to what you have.
